Why you can't rush healing (and what to do instead)

We live in a world of instant gratification. We want the perfect partner, job, bank account - and to heal our trauma in a single breathwork session. But healing (and life) doesn’t work that way.

I know this firsthand. The more I tried to push or force my own healing, the more dysregulated I became. Every attempt to speed up the process left me feeling more stuck, more frustrated, and even further from the peace I was searching for.

Your body knows how to heal

What I’ve learned over the years is that healing isn’t about force - it’s about creating the right conditions.

We have an innate healing response. But in today’s fast-paced world, we rarely give our bodies the space to do the work. We’re constantly bombarded with stress, distractions, and responsibilities that keep us in a state of fight-or-flight, making deep healing almost impossible.

My aha moment

I had my own healing aha moment during an advanced yoga teacher training years ago. Three weeks immersed in movement, meditation, community, and deep rest - no tech, no daily stressors, and (thankfully) someone else doing the cooking!

During that time something amazing happened. Years of stored tension and trauma begin to unravel. My body literally changed shape as layers of stress, survival patterns, and old wounds softened and released.

I wasn’t pushing, forcing, or trying to "fix" myself. I was simply allowing my body to do what it was designed to do: heal.

Why retreats can be transformative

Healing is a lifelong journey. Whether we’re working through past trauma, shifting dysfunctional patterns, or deepening our relationship with ourselves, it’s a long gamenot something we can fast-track with a single practice.

That’s why stepping away from daily life can be so powerful. A retreat offers the time and space to shift out of survival mode and into deep restoration. And from that place, clarity emerges, nervous system regulation happens, and real transformation becomes possible.

Yoga for Healing retreat

This is exactly why I created my Yoga for Healing retreat in Bali this June (7-15).

We’ll be returning to the stunning Amori Villas for 8 nights of deep rest, nervous system regulation, and somatic healing, where you'll learn how to:

✨ Regulate your nervous system and access deep rest
✨ Heal from trauma without overwhelming your system
✨ Activate your body's natural healing response and take practices into daily life
✨ Nourish your mind, body, and spirit

We’ll also experience a Balinese healer and visit the iconic Yoga Barn for an immersive, healing experience.

If you’re craving space to heal, unwind, and recharge, this retreat is for you.

Prices start from $3,499 twin share.
